LAWN PRINT SHIRT

The Italian Job (1969)

Tommy Nutter, Ossie Clark, Granny takes a trip and Michael Fish are labels and designers that my client Erik in Brooklyn is a big fan of. He's collected  vintage items from these makers from the 60s and 70s but sadly as time passes we are seeing less of these clothes around in good condition. One of the great things about custom though is you can have made whatever you like rather than search for something that may no longer even exist. Custom clothing is only limited by the clients imagination and clothes for the office are just one type of clothing that David Reeves can offer.

Erik was into the idea of doing a floral print, or lawn print shirt reminiscent of the late 60s and early 70s so I made this shirt for him.

The Lawn print cotton which has a bit of stretch (ideal for a slimmer shirt) comes from Acorn. The "David Reeves house collar" was usually longer and a lot more 70s looking actually but we now have a "new David Reeves collar" which was used on this shirt. The collar is still soft and reminiscent of the era, the dimensions are very early 70s or directional late 60s, but scaled down for a more modern take.

Lawn print yoke

The Manchester shirt makers show thought and attention to detail here with logical pattern matching at the yoke. This complex pattern is impossible to match up but nonetheless the matching here between the seams is clever and harmonious.

ETA on shirts is currently 4 weeks, shirts start at $225.00 and there is no minimum order.

Have a good week everybody.
