How long does it take to make a Bespoke suit?
For a first time client, the entire bespoke process will take 2-3 months. This includes the creation of your pattern and a basted fitting (which we fully recommend). Subsequent garments will take half this time, given that there are no major changes in your physique. If you need something sooner, or are working within a particular time frame, let us know. Although our process and the amount of handwork that goes into our garments make it impossible to turn around a piece in a week, we can have a suit done in as little as 2 weeks, given that we make certain allowances and rush fees. That being said , a fine suit is always worth the wait and we can outpace most Savile Row makers by about 9 months. Our location in New York is also easier than waiting for trunk show visits from England or Italy.
Why should I visit your showroom for measurements?
At Reeves, we uphold the timeless tradition of bespoke tailoring. We believe that the creation of your garment is a personal journey, deserving of attention to detail. In our brick-and-mortar location, you won't just be measured; you'll experience the fabrics, linings, and the expertise of a professional with 25 years of experience. This ensures that your garment not only fits flawlessly but also aligns with your lifestyle and unique personality.
What sets a Reeves suit apart?
First and foremost the cut and design of our garments is authentically and unapologetically English. Our suits are bench made in London and then finished our showroom shop in New York under David Reeves direct supervision. You can expect Savile Row’s finest cutters and tailors to work on your garment, presenting the best hand stitched buttonholes, a full horsehair canvas and a pattern made and stored for you for future orders. There are no “models” or off the rack pieces everything we do is a one of a kind garment. At our price point everyone involved receives a fair wage for their craftsmanship and everyone in the supply chain works with David Reeves directly.
I don't live in New York City. Can I get a consultation and/or fitting done in my town/state/country?
Absolutely. Nearly a third of our clients are from out of state or live abroad. If you visit NYC a few times a year, we will do our best to see you then. Alternatively, if you meet our minimum order quota, we are happy to travel to you throughout the process.
Do you offer Made to Measure or sell off the rack?
At this point no. We did offer MTM, but felt that this was inherently a half measure and a distraction from our Bespoke tailoring. We do not sell anything ready to wear although we usually do a sample sale once a year in the summer usually over a weekend.
Do you do alterations work?
We maintain a small alteration shop next to the showroom for alterations and upkeep on our clients bespoke garments, but we do not do alterations on garments not made by us.
Can I return my Bespoke garment?
The Reeves team works with every client to ensure that they are completely satisfied with their purchase, however, if you need to return or exchange an item please review the following terms:
Full refunds for custom made garments are not required by state law, however we are committed to our clients, so please contact us directly regarding your item and the issues at hand; our team of tailors and alternations specialists are ready to help and can usually resolve the problem in a timely manner. If not, we can discuss a return or exchange.
Please be sure that all returned items are in original condition, refunds or additional alternations will not be provided for garments that have suffered above average wear and tear or intentional damage.
All returns, refunds, exchanges or complementary alterations must be made within 120 days of purchasing your item and are subject to review by a member of the Reeves team.
Eligible returns can be made via mail (subject to revision) or in person at one of our office locations.
Can you alter my suit if I gain or lose weight?
If you need your suit altered due to change in weight, we are happy to do this for you for a minimal fee at any point throughout the life of the suit. What's more, we will adapt your pattern and keep it up-to-date for no additional charge.
Do you make women's suits and clothing?
Yes! Women's garments usually require more fittings, however we enjoy working with both men and women and have achieved outstanding results with many female clients. We do not, however, create skirts or dresses for our clientele at this time. View our women’s garments page
What have past Reeves clients had to say?
Reeves is very proud to say that the vast majority of our business consists of return clients and referrals. Reeves marketing is generally done the old fashioned way, through word-of-mouth. All our clients are very important to us and our clients stay with us because they see how our tailoring works for them in a positive way every day. David also builds personal as well as professional relationships with his clients, providing exceptional customer service throughout. He is easily reached, quick to respond and always reliable.
