HOLLAND AND SHERRY

I am really pleased to announce that I have recently added Holland and Sherry to my repertoire of cloth houses. I have done business with "H&S" for many years in London and look forward to working with their New york office here in the States. Holland and Sherry is a 170 year old cloth house and decidedly English in character. I feel they will round out the cloths available to my clients especially in terms of tweeds and more conservative English cloths. I had myself this double breasted suit made up using their "Intercity" cloth. Intercity is H&S entry level cloth, its analogues would be Dormeuil Amadeus or Loro Piana Tasmanian. The cloth is hard wearing with a fairly matte finish it comes in at 10 oz so is wearable most of the year in New york or in fact pretty much all year round in England. I also opted to use one of their linings. The lining is 100% viscose and is rather light.

In terms of styling for the suit I took some inspiration from a scene in American Psycho when Patrick Bateman is at Dinner in a DB brown birdseye with patch pockets. I think this film gets perhaps more credit than it deserves but this kind of slightly casual but chic suit is great for parties and more informal events. Double breasted suits are getting a bit more exposure recently and I am wondering if we are going to see a resurgence as we have with three piece suits as of late? The lapels are a rather classic width and of course both are buttonholed, I decided not to use a patch on the breast as I don't like the bulk of three patch pockets on a coat generally.
